Wise Integration has launched its first fully digital power controller, WiseWare 1.1 (WIW1101), built around a 32-bit microcontroller and capable of switching frequencies up to 2 MHz. This innovation pushes new limits in power density, energy efficiency, and compactness for AC-DC converters. Now in full production, it’s already being used in customer designs.

Engineered for GaN Performance

Unlike traditional analog solutions, WiseWare 1.1 uses a proprietary digital control algorithm tailored for gallium nitride (GaN) technology. Operating in critical-conduction mode (CrCM), it enables zero-voltage switching (ZVS) across all power transistors—minimizing losses and reducing the size and weight of magnetic components—while maintaining efficiency above 98%. Designed specifically for totem pole power factor correction (PFC) architectures, it’s a future-ready solution for high-performance power systems.

Field-Proven and Flexible

With a power range from 100 W to 1.5 kW, WiseWare 1.1 supports a broad spectrum of high-efficiency applications. Its compatibility with standard GaN devices across various RDS(on) levels allows system designers to optimize performance while maintaining flexibility in component selection.

Key application areas include:

  • High-efficiency AC-DC converters
  • Compact, high power-density designs
  • Power supplies for server infrastructure
  • USB Power Delivery adapters for portable computing
  • Switch-mode power supplies used in monitors and displays

WiseWare 1.1 is already gaining strong traction in the power electronics market, demonstrated by customer design wins and a successful showcase at PCIM Europe—one of the industry’s most prominent events. At the show, Wise Integration presented 300W totem-pole PFC demo boards featuring WiseWare 1.1 and their WiseGan WI71060A GaN transistors (with an RDS(on) of 60 mΩ), delivering power conversion from 90–264 VAC input to a 400 VDC output. Alongside its European momentum, the company is also ramping up technical partnerships and design efforts across Asia, further expanding its global presence.

Highlights of WiseWare 1.1 (WIW1101):

  • Capable of switching at frequencies up to 2 MHz
  • Operates in Critical Conduction Mode (CrCM) for full zero-voltage switching
  • Integrated protections: overcurrent, overvoltage, overtemperature, and overpower
  • Manages inrush current without needing relays or thermistors
  • Extremely low standby power usage—only 18 mW
  • EMC-compliant evaluation board achieving over 98% efficiency

Thanks to its digital control, GaN-optimized architecture, and integrated system features, WiseWare 1.1 raises the bar for efficient and compact power control in next-generation electronic systems.
