Advanced Energy Industries, Inc. has expanded its ultra-efficient non-isolated bus converter (NIBC) portfolio with the launch of two new quarter-brick power modules designed for 48V power conversion. These new modules are aimed at high-demand applications such as AI servers, high-performance computing platforms, networking systems, and industrial equipment like robotics and test instruments.
The new products — the Artesyn NDQ1300 (1300 W) and NDQ1600 (1600 W) — deliver up to 98% peak efficiency, making them ideal for applications where power density and efficiency are critical. They convert 48V inputs to a stable 12V output, supporting low-voltage, high-current power stages and components like PCIe slots and memory devices.
Key features include a flat efficiency curve for consistent performance across load ranges, a PMBus interface for digital monitoring and control, and options for current sharing and remote sensing—allowing multiple units to be used in parallel for added current or redundancy. A transformer-based design adds inherent safety, improves resistance to transient loads, and simplifies start-up control.
For thermal management, the modules feature a baseplate optimized for heatsink use, ensuring reliable cooling during high-power operation. Their standardized, compact form factor supports easy power scaling and helps protect downstream components.
