Infineon Technologies AG has launched the EZ-USB FX2G3, a new USB 2.0 peripheral controller designed to offer flexible, secure, and low-latency connectivity. Building on the EZ-USB FX2LP family, the FX2G3 provides a versatile platform for a wide range of applications.
The controller’s CPU subsystem integrates Cortex-M4 and M0+ cores, along with 512 KB flash, 128 KB SRAM, 128 KB ROM, a serial communication block (SCB), and a crypto engine for enhanced security. Its high-bandwidth data subsystem supports DMA transfers from LVCMOS inputs to USB outputs at speeds up to 480 Mbps, with AXI 3 interconnect and multiple data streams. An additional 1 MB on-chip SRAM ensures smooth, continuous data streaming.
With the increasing demand for fast and secure data transfer, the EZ-USB FX2G3 is suitable for multiple industries. In biometrics, it enables rapid, secure fingerprint and facial recognition. In medical and healthcare devices, it supports portable diagnostics, imaging systems, and patient-monitoring equipment, improving workflow efficiency and real-time decision-making.

Industrial applications benefit from real-time data capture and communication in robotics, automation, and control systems, enhancing throughput and operational performance. In consumer electronics, the controller boosts performance for gaming peripherals, audio devices, and other USB accessories. It also facilitates sensor data aggregation and precise control in robotics, both industrial and consumer.
The FX2G3 comes in a 104-pin LGA package measuring 8 × 8 mm, with evaluation samples, documentation, and development tools available. It is designed for high-volume production deployment.
