ROHM has introduced its new BD9xxN5 Series of LDO regulator ICs, delivering up to 500 mA output current and featuring the company’s proprietary Nano Cap ultra-stable control technology. The series comprises 18 products tailored for 12 V and 24 V primary power supplies used in automotive, industrial, and communication systems.
As electronic devices shrink, power supply ICs need to remain stable even with small output capacitors—a challenge for capacitors 1 µF or smaller. ROHM addressed this in 2022 with the BD9xxN1 Series, which offered 150 mA output and Nano Cap technology, enabling stable operation with capacitors as low as 100 nF.
The new BD9xxN5 Series expands on this by providing over three times the current (500 mA) while maintaining a low output voltage ripple of ~250 mV, even with rapid load changes from 1 mA to 500 mA within 1 µs, using a typical 470 nF capacitor.
