Wirepas and HPL introduced India’s first Wirepas certified in-meter gateway, a breakthrough technology eliminating the need for dedicated gateway devices in RF mesh-based smart metering. This integrated solution, demonstrated live at ELECRAMA, features:
- An in-meter gateway embedded in HPL’s smart meters, powered by Wirepas Mesh Sub-GHz connectivity.
- A dual-radio Network Interface Card (NIC) enabling a single smart meter to function as a gateway, transmitting data over 4G LTE while collecting meter readings from up to 300 smart meters.
- Seamless integration with HPL’s Head-End System (HES), reducing infrastructure costs while ensuring 99.9% uptime.
This innovation revolutionizes India’s AMI landscape, particularly in areas with limited cellular connectivity, providing utilities with a cost-efficient, scalable, and ultra-resilient smart metering network.
