GAIA Converter, a leading provider of high-efficiency, high-reliability, DC/DC converters and modular power solutions has announced a new addition to its MGDM-500 series of 500-Watt, isolated dc/dc converters.

The military grade MGDM-500/P converts input voltages of 9 – 40 Vdc  or 16-80 Vdc to four nominal DC output voltages – 12 V, 15 V, 24 V and 28 V, with up to 500 W of output power at an efficiency exceeding 91%. The module’s unique new parallel option with droop control enables seamless load sharing across up to six individual modules, delivering power levels up to 3 kW, while maintaining high efficiency and reliability. The highly scalable power architecture of the MGDM-500/P  requires minimal external components – just a single low-power sense resistor—significantly streamlining system integration and reducing additional component costs. Rated to MiL-STD-704, MiL-STD-1275, MiL-STD-461, and DO160, the MGDM-500/P provides greater flexibility, simplified integration, and optimized performance for aerospace, defense, and industrial applications.

Thanks to its two-component potting compound, the module ensures optimum heat dissipation under the harshest of operational conditions while supporting a storage temperature range of -40 to +125 oC. Available in chassis-mount packages measuring 61 x 64 x 12.9 mm key benefits and features of the module include:

  • Scalable Power Solutions : Supports 12, 15, 24, and 28Vdc outputs and allows up to 6 modules to be combined, reaching power levels of up to 3kW
  • Ultra simple droop control operation
  • Minimal Additional Components: Only one low-power sense resistor is needed

The MGDM500 /P offers an optimized solution, delivering greater flexibility and scalability for high-reliability applications including mil-aero, ground-borne, civilian avionic, on-board military radars, navigation systems, surveillance drone, flight recorders, night vision illuminators, intelligent weapons, and naval applications.
