Mouser Electronics, Inc., announces a new eBook in collaboration with Bourns, a leading manufacturer and supplier of electronic components. In How to Choose the Right Surge Protection Technology, industry experts from Bourns and other leading companies help to answer some of the most common questions regarding surge protection and its application in sophisticated electronics systems.

Increasing complexity in electronic designs has led to a matching increase in PCB density. As a result, these denser board layouts are at a greater risk of damage from transients like lightning and voltage surges. Small designs on limited board space must be supported with enhanced surge protection. The new eBook from Bourns and Mouser offers step-by-step insights into how to choose the right surge protection technology for a given application. Additionally, the eBook features several charts and tables to help define and clarify the different types of surge protection technology.

Each article features convenient links to crucial Bourns surge protection products, connecting designers directly to solutions that can provide an immediate benefit to their electronic designs. Surge protection solutions from Bourns include the recently launched IsoMOV Series overvoltage protection devices. These hybrid technology varistors combine surge protection with an integrated gas discharge tube (GDT) isolation structure. The IsoMOV devices provide an elevated level of surge protection in terms of performance, operational life and enhanced device reliability for applications such as LED lighting, industrial equipment, solar inverters, power supplies, and distribution systems.

Bourns’ TBU-CA-Q are AEC-Q101-qualified, low-capacitance, bi-directional, high-speed protection components that guard against faults caused by short circuits. The TBU-CA-Q devices offer an effective barrier against surge events in process control, general electronics, and test and measure applications.
