March 4, 2020 – Mouser Electronics is now stocking STM32L5 ultra-low-power microcontrollers from STMicroelectronics (ST). Based on an Arm Cortex-M33 core with Arm TrustZone hardware-based security, the STM32L5 series includes a suite of protection features and embedded high-speed memories while offering high performance and ultra-low power consumption.
The STM32L5 microcontrollers, available from Mouser Electronics, feature a security architecture based on Arm TrustZone with the ARMv8-M Main Extension. The 32-bit Cortex-M33 core with floating point unit also implements a full set of DSP (digital signal processing) instructions and a memory protection unit (MPU) that enhances application security. Additionally, the STM32L5 family has received PSA Level 1 and Level 2 certifications from Arm.
The STM32L5 devices embed high-speed memories (up to 512 Kbytes of flash memory and 256 Kbytes of SRAM), plus a flexible external memory controller for static memories (for devices with packages of 100 pins and more). Other peripherals include an octo-SPI flash memories interface and an extensive range of enhanced I/Os and peripherals connected to two APB buses, two AHB buses, and a 32-bit multi-AHB bus matrix. The devices also incorporate ST’s ART Accelerator™, which allows zero-wait states out of the 64-bit program flash at a clock speed of up to 110 MHz and 165 DMIPS performance.
The STM32L5 microcontrollers leverage ST’s low-power technologies to give designers flexibility to optimize power consumption. Technologies such as voltage scaling to balance power consumption with processing demand, and a comprehensive set of power-saving modes (including a run mode as low as 62 µA/MHz and a 108 nA standby mode) allow engineers to design a broad range of low-power applications
