STMicroelectronics has appointed Anand Kumar as the new Managing Director for its India operations. He steps into the role following the retirement of Vivek Sharma, who spent more than three decades with the company and played a pivotal role in shaping its presence in India.
Kumar will now lead STMicroelectronics’ India strategy from its Greater Noida base, focusing on strengthening operations and expanding the company’s impact in one of the fastest-growing technology markets. With years of experience in business transformation and innovation, his appointment reflects the company’s intent to align India operations more closely with global goals.
India has become an increasingly important hub for semiconductor research, development, and talent. Under Sharma’s leadership, STMicroelectronics built strong capabilities here, contributing to both local and global projects. Kumar’s mandate will likely build on this foundation, but also respond to the changing dynamics of India’s electronics and semiconductor ecosystem.
His leadership comes at a time when India is positioning itself as a global semiconductor player, supported by government initiatives and rising demand for chips across industries. With Kumar at the helm, STMicroelectronics is expected to deepen its commitment to local innovation while continuing to serve its global customer base.
This leadership transition signals both continuity and fresh direction—one that could shape how STMicroelectronics contributes to India’s semiconductor journey in the coming years.
