Apex Microtechnology has introduced three new precision power operational amplifiers—the PA167, PA168, and PA169—to expand its Precision IC lineup. Housed in a compact 20 mm × 20 mm PQ package, the new amplifiers provide up to 20% better thermal performance than earlier models while supporting a wider range of output current options. Offered in both standard and A-grade versions, these devices enable engineers to build compact, high-density power systems with improved performance and efficient use of board space.

The PA167 is a high-voltage MOSFET operational amplifier featuring a monolithic amplifier core designed for applications requiring high output voltage or output current density. Operating up to 205V, the device delivers 1A of continuous output current in the standard version and 2A in the A-grade version, with up to 6A peak current and 33W of internal power dissipation. The PA168 extends the product family’s output capability by providing operation up to 200V with 8A of continuous output current, 12A peak current, and 52W of internal power dissipation. Separate power supplies for the amplifier core and output stage allow designers to optimize voltage swing and overall system efficiency. Rounding out the new additions to the product family, the PA169 integrates two independent high-voltage amplifier channels into a compact 52-pin QFP package, delivering dual 200V, 2A continuous (6A peak) amplifier channels with up to 52W of internal power dissipation for applications requiring multiple high-performance amplifier channels in a single package.

All three devices utilize Apex’s proven monolithic MOS technology and incorporate integrated protection features including temperature-compensated current limiting with over-current flag indication and amplifier disable functionality. These features help designers improve overall system reliability while lessening the need for external protection circuitry.

“The PA167, PA168, and PA169 represent the next evolution of our PQ amplifier family, giving designers higher thermal performance and a broader range of current capabilities while maintaining the compact form factor our customers rely on,” said Jens Eltze, Director of Business Development at Apex Microtechnology. “Whether customers need a single-channel solution optimized for higher output current or a dual-channel amplifier for high-density designs, this family provides the flexibility and performance required for today’s most demanding precision power applications.”

Housed in a compact 20 mm × 20 mm PQ package, the expanded PQ family enables designers to maximize board real estate while delivering the voltage, current, and thermal performance required for demanding applications.

Typical applications include high-density voltage and current sources, electrostatic transducers, beam and mirror deflection systems, deformable mirror focusing, piezoelectric positioning, and other precision motion control applications where compact size, high-voltage operation, and reliable power delivery are essential.

The PA167, PA168, and PA169 are currently in volume production, with sample units available for qualified applications.
