Diodes Incorporated has expanded its load switch lineup with the launch of the DML1012ALDSQ, an automotive-grade N-channel MOSFET smart load switch designed with very low drain-source on-resistance (RDS(ON)). It is intended for dependable power sequencing and control of power rails in automotive systems such as advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), infotainment units, and digital instrument clusters.
The device operates across an input voltage range of 0.8V to 4V, making it suitable for a wide variety of subsystem power domains. Its extremely low RDS(ON) of 8 mΩ (maximum) helps reduce conduction losses and heat buildup during operation. With a junction-to-case thermal resistance (RθJC) of 8°C/W, it supports continuous output currents of up to 6A.
It also offers low quiescent current to enhance efficiency during power gating and reduce standby power consumption. Additionally, an enable pin allows precise, microcontroller-controlled power sequencing for more accurate system-level power management.
The DML1012ALDSQ incorporates several key protection features, allowing engineers to reduce PCB area and time to market, as compared with a discrete solution. The device minimizes inrush current by controlling the output voltage slew rate during start-up, which benefits system stability. Integrated quick output discharge ensures downstream components are fully discharged during shutdown. In addition, undervoltage lockout (UVLO) disables system function when the supply voltage falls below a safe threshold, ensuring predictable behavior and stable supply conditions.
The DML1012ALDSQ is available in the V-DFN3030-8 (Type R) (3mm x 3mm) package and priced from $0.17 in 1,000-piece quantities. A standard compliance version, the DML1012ALDS, is available for industrial and commercial applications.
