The Indian beauty industry is experiencing a major shift, driven by the fast growth of the premium segment and the increasing adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to fuel future development. This evolving landscape, showcased at the sixth edition of Cosmoprof India, reinforces India’s status as a thriving market for both local and global beauty brands.
Cosmoprof India is a leading platform for the Indian beauty industry and a strategic gateway for international brands looking to access one of the most dynamic markets worldwide. This year 353 exhibitors and 800 brands from 23 countries and regions presented their latest innovations. The three-day event is expected to attract over 14,000 visitors seeking new business opportunities and insights into the latest market trends.
At Cosmoprof India 2025, Industry leaders pointed to surging demand for high-performance transformation services in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities as the primary driver of premiumization.
Speaking at the event Mr. Samir Srivastava, CEO, Looks Salon said, “Consumers are increasingly gravitating toward salons that integrate technology into their service environment, as digital tools elevate trust and signal a modern, future-ready experience. The premium salon segment in India is growing at nearly 10 to 15 percent and Looks Salon is witnessing similar momentum across its network with plans to add around 20 outlets every year. Even if technology does not entirely redefine the service model, AI-enabled capabilities remain essential, and we are investing in the necessary digital infrastructure to strengthen personalization, enhance diagnostics and improve customer engagement. Intelligent touch points such as smart mirrors for hair and skin analysis are already reshaping the service journey and differentiating advanced salon chains from the rest of the market. As the organised beauty and grooming sector expands, significant opportunities lie in men’s grooming, nails and individual wellbeing. While human touch will always remain central to our industry, technology and AI will play a decisive role in elevating experience, efficiency and long-term loyalty.”
Commenting on the evolution of the premium beauty services market in India, Mr. Vipul Chaturvedi, CEO & Director, Lakmé Salons said, “The premium salon segment in India is expanding at a remarkable pace, driven by rising demand for high-performance transformation services across skincare, hair and makeup. Over the past 18 months, we have strengthened our transformation portfolio with advanced facials, texture services, highlights and our exclusive K’essence range created in partnership with JeuDerm, a leading professional Korean brand.”
“With more than 500 salons across 215 cities, Lakmé Salon is seeing strong growth from Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets where rising incomes and global exposure are fueling premiumization. Technology interventions across consultations, tools, inventory and loyalty have further improved efficiency and elevated service delivery. As the organized salon industry continues to expand rapidly, we expect this part of our business to grow in the mid-teens, supported by a clear focus on transformation services, an expanding unisex model and the significant long-term opportunity in India’s beauty and grooming market.” Mr. Chaturvedi added.
Mr Vikram Bhatt, Founder of Enrich Salons, said, “The Indian salon industry is entering its most exciting decade, evolving from a service-led model to an experience-driven, technology-enabled ecosystem. AI is emerging as a powerful enabler that elevates the human touch through predictive personalization, diagnostics, behavioral insights and intelligent recommendations. With the organized market nearing INR 15,000 crores, the next wave of growth will be shaped by deeper personalization, premiumization across care and cure categories and expansion across metros and Tier 2 markets. At Enrich, the focus remains on delivering warm, trustworthy and premium experiences across all formats while adding 25 to 35 outlets each year with consistent standards. The future of beauty in India will be defined by brands that blend empathy with efficiency, skill with technology and scale with consistency, with professionals at the heart of an industry empowered by intelligent systems.”
Reflecting on the transformative potential of technology in the beauty industry, Ms Renu Kant, Founder, Envi Salon, said, “AI is set to elevate the industry from simply delivering services to creating deeply personalized beauty experiences. By interpreting client preferences and behavior in advance, AI allows salons to understand what a customer is likely to need even before they walk in. This makes it possible to curate customized packages and deliver a more seamless journey. AI also unlocks the value of data by supporting virtual consultations, hair and skin analysis, product recommendations and timely service reminders. With these capabilities, AI enhances the quality of service, strengthens personalization and enriches the overall salon experience.”
Highlighting the growing importance of artificial intelligence in the beauty and salon industry, Mr. CK Kumaravel, Co-Founder & CMD, Naturals Salon & Spa, said, “AI is reshaping the sector by offering real-time insights into rapidly evolving consumer behavior, automating routine tasks and predicting long-term industry trends with remarkable speed. It also enables highly personalized offerings and supports faster, more efficient scale for businesses. While beauty will always remain a high-touch, human-first industry, AI will play a pivotal role in elevating productivity, personalization and innovation across the ecosystem.”
Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, Informa Markets in India, said, “India’s beauty ecosystem is entering a defining moment, driven by a young, aspirational consumer base and a rising preference for science-led, conscious and globally benchmarked beauty. With India projected to become the world’s third-largest beauty and personal care market by 2030, and the premium beauty segment expanding at a steady 13-15% annually according to industry estimates, the space for innovation and brand-building has never been more compelling. At this stage of accelerated growth, Cosmoprof India plays a pivotal role for brands, creators, manufacturers and innovators to converge and shape the next chapter of beauty for India.”
“The continuous and impressive growth of Cosmoprof India confirms the strategic relevance of the Indian beauty market on the global stage.” comments Enrico Zannini, General Manager BolognaFiere Cosmoprof. “The Indian beauty industry is expanding at an exceptional pace, driven by a young population, increasing purchasing power and strong interest in innovation, sustainability and wellness.
