When we started the National  Quantum Mission last year, we were quite clear that we wanted to convert existing research into products and work towards creating a Product Nation. Today, I am pleased to announce that the Honourable Minister Jitendra Singh, Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Secretary, Department of Science & Technology (DST) and Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India launched four products in Quantum technologies. Three of these products have been created by startups funded by the National Quantum Mission and they have achieved availability of the product much before the planned date.

The fourth product has been created by Professor Kasturi Saha , IIT Bombay at our sensing hub of NQM. The breakthrough for creating a 500 km quantum secure network has been achieved by QnU.  With this announcement, we would encourage various government departments like security, intelligence, defence and financial systems to start adopting quantum secure networks from products created in India so that they can be secure for the future.

The second one is the QpiAI. QpiAI has today launched a 64 Qubit Computer again much ahead of time. I would like to see research institutions, enterprises and government departments to adopt this product for creating applications in quantum computing along with utilizing it for further research to develop algorithms, etc.

The third one is a product created by PrenishQ, another startup funded by National Quantum Mission. PrenishQ has created India’s first indigenous high precision Diode Laser. This can be utilized for quantum encrypted communication and computing.

And lastly, the sensing hub of the National Quantum Mission located at IIT Bombay has created a Quantum Diamond Microscope under the guidance of Professor Kasturi Saha. This is another breakthrough product for the country and can be utilized for various areas including:

  • Non-destructive testing of semiconductor chips
  • Trojan detection
  • Neuronal imagining
  • Geomagnetic and Biomagnetic field imagining
  • Investigation of quantum materials

This is a product which will help us find trapdoors in Chinese chips.

In another achievement,  QnU collaborated with Dhruva Space to launch quantum communication capability in space on their satellite. So, now, with these, we are well on our way to creating a Product Nation and I eagerly anticipate this historic transformation taking shape in the near future.
