Mouser Electronics, the industry’s leading New Product Introduction (NPI) distributor with the widest selection of semiconductors and electronic components, is now stocking the FRDM-MCXW72 development board from NXP Semiconductors. The scalable, flexible FRDM-MCXW72 platform accelerates prototyping and evaluation of the MCX W72 wireless microcontroller (MCU), including its secure multiprotocol connectivity and Bluetooth Channel Sounding capabilities. Developers can evaluate Bluetooth LE, Matter, Thread, Zigbee, and Bluetooth Channel Sounding for smart home, building automation, IIoT, smart energy, and other connected applications.

The MCX W72 is a high-performance, secure, low-power multiprotocol wireless MCU featuring a 96MHz Arm Cortex-M33 main core with 2 MB Flash and 264 KB RAM, Bluetooth LE 6.3 qualified with Channel Sounding, a dedicated hardware accelerator (Localization Compute Engine) to improve ranging performance, 802.15.4 (Thread, Zigbee, Matter), and an integrated EdgeLock Secure Enclave. Two FRDM-MCXW72 boards can be used to evaluate the MCX W72 Channel Sounding and Ranging feature. The FRDM-MCXW72 development board offers a USB Type-C programmer/debugger with a serial interface and industry-standard headers for easy access to the MCU I/Os. Additional features of the FRDM-MCXW72 include onboard buttons, LEDs, 8 MB of SPI Flash memory, a light sensor, and a 3-axis accelerometer. The FRDM-MCXW72 board is supported by Zephyr RTOS and the MCUXpresso developer experience, which enable open-source and NXP-provided development workflows. Multiple add-on boards for the FRDM-MCXW72 are available through NXP’s Expansion Board Hub, and the NXP Application Code Hub provides access to over 140 code snippets and tutorials.
