The significance of these elements, which operate based on the phenomenon of electroluminescence, i.e., the emission of light due to current flow through a semiconductor junction, is truly enormous. From simple indicator lamps in everyday devices, through backlighting of displays, to advanced lighting systems in industry and automotive sectors. LEDs are characterized by low energy consumption, long life, and compact construction, which has made them the standard in many fields, replacing traditional light sources.
Classic LEDs from Refond
LEDs are primarily classic elements of small size adapted for surface-mount SMD assembly. They come in a wide range of packages from 0402 to 5730 and more specialized mini PLCC2, PLCC4, PLCC6, and PLCC10. The diode lens can be yellow, transparent, or diffused in color. There are many available light emission colors: white in cold, warm, or neutral variants, red, green, blue, amber, orange, yellow, and infrared diodes. It is also worth mentioning many dual-color variants, which are mixtures of the previously mentioned colors, as well as RGB and RGBW diodes. The emission angle of the diodes depends on the specific specimen and ranges from 30° to 140°. The diode’s operating voltage and the current it consumes are strictly related to the light color, additionally, each element is described by a specific wavelength, temperature, and brightness value, which allows precise selection of the appropriate component.
