Reliance has made two important deals by investing in new technologies like semiconductors and hydrogen electrolysers. Reliance Industries has entered into an investment deal in Germany’s semiconductor chip maker Nexwafe. Apart from this, Reliance has also entered into a deal with Stiesdal A/S, a Denmark company that manufactures hydrogen electrolysers.

Reliance Industries (RIL) subsidiary Reliance New Energy Solar Limited (RNESL) will invest 25 million euros (about Rs 218 crore) in the German company Nexwafe. This is a strategic deal for the Indian market. Nexwafe manufactures high-capacity monocrystalline silicon wafers, which are a key element in semiconductor manufacturing. Through this investment, Reliance will get a stake in the German company. The company has informed the stock exchanges about these deals on Tuesday itself.

It is worth noting that these days there is a lot of shortage of semiconductor chip all over the world including India. These chips are used in everything from cars to electronic goods. Due to their shortage, especially the auto industry is very upset, the waiting period of vehicles has increased a lot. In such a situation, Reliance has taken an important step by doing this deal. Reliance will get 86,887 Series C shares in the company in return for this investment.

Similarly, another Reliance Group company Reliance New Energy Solar Limited (RNESL) has entered into a deal with Denmark company Stiesdal A/S to manufacture hydrogen electrolysers. Through this deal, Reliance has got a license from the company to manufacture electrolysers in India.

This is an important deal in terms of renewable business in India. Significantly, Reliance Industries is now focusing on increasing its move towards renewable energy instead of conventional. The company is going to invest billions of rupees in it in the next decades. Denmark company Stiesdal A/S develops technology to reduce the impact of climate change. Reliance has set a target of producing 100 GW of renewable energy by 2030.
