ROHM Semiconductor has unveiled the AG16xFNxx Series, a new range of 80V power MOSFETs engineered for automotive 48V power systems. Designed to meet the growing power demands of modern vehicles, the series helps improve power conversion efficiency while reducing system size.

As vehicle manufacturers increasingly adopt 48V electrical architectures to support advanced features and electrification, the need for optimized power semiconductors is rising. Unlike conventional 100V MOSFETs, the AG16xFNxx devices are specifically tailored for 48V automotive applications, delivering lower conduction and switching losses.

The series is offered in two compact package formats: the HPLF5060 package (4.9 mm × 6.0 mm) and the DFN3333 package (3.3 mm × 3.3 mm). These smaller packages allow engineers to design more compact and power-dense automotive electronic systems compared to traditional TO-252 packages.

To enhance durability and thermal performance, ROHM has integrated advanced packaging technologies. The HPLF5060 package incorporates Gull-Wing Leads for stronger solder connections, while the DFN3333 package uses Wettable Flank Technology to improve inspection capabilities and PCB reliability. Both packages also feature Copper Clip Junction Technology for better heat dissipation and high-current handling.

Qualified to the AEC-Q101 automotive reliability standard, the AG16xFNxx MOSFETs are suitable for critical vehicle applications such as inverter control systems, electric motors, and electric water pumps operating on 48V platforms.

Mass production of the AG160FNS4FRA and AG166FNH7FRA devices began in April 2026, with additional models and higher-power TOLG package variants currently under development. The new series expands ROHM’s EcoMOS portfolio, which focuses on energy-efficient power solutions for automotive, industrial, and consumer electronics applications.
