TATA Power has partnered with POWERCON Group’s Centre of Renewable Energy (CORE), a specialised training academy, to upskill its workforce through a customised programme focused on wind turbine operations and maintenance. The training includes a mix of classroom learning and practical experience on SGRE technology turbines.
The programme follows a three-stage “sandwich” format. It begins with classroom sessions covering safety practices, wind power plant design, turbine systems, and overall plant operations. This is followed by hands-on training at active wind sites. In the final stage, participants gain advanced skills such as troubleshooting at component level, using remote monitoring systems, applying data analytics, and managing asset performance.
As part of the programme, participants are introduced to POWERCON’s Centre for Engineering Excellence (CFEE) facilities for turbine control and power flow simulation, component and PCB repairs, and hands-on at the Energy Studio – international remote operations and analytics centre for multi-GW Wind, Solar and BESS assets.
Beyond technical training, the programme also includes modules on the managerial aspects of wind energy operations, including leadership at project sites and managing operational challenges associated with large-scale RE installations.

As India accelerates its RE transition, the need for a skilled workforce in the sector continues to grow. The wind energy industry alone is expected to require nearly 150,000 skilled workers by 2030 as capacity addition scales across the country. CORE Academy’s National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) aligned certificate, diploma, and advanced diploma programmes aim to support this demand by building a strong pipeline of industry-ready professionals.
