TDK Launches 1500W High-Efficiency AC-DC Modules

New AC-DC modules support wide input voltage, high efficiency, and advanced monitoring for industrial and high-power applications.

TDK Corporation has broadened its power supply lineup with the introduction of the TDK-Lambda PFE1500FB series, a new generation of 1500 W AC-DC power modules engineered for wide-range input operation. These modules accept an input voltage between 85 and 305 Vac, making them suitable for systems using standard 277 Vac industrial power, as well as applications in lighting and building automation.

Designed with a metal baseplate, the units support efficient operation in thermally challenging environments where traditional cooling is limited. This allows use in sealed systems or liquid-cooled setups. Their five-sided enclosure enhances heat dissipation and helps reduce electromagnetic interference, improving overall system reliability and integration.

The series includes a PMBus digital interface that enables full remote control and monitoring. Users can adjust output voltage, overvoltage, overcurrent, and undervoltage protections. For higher power needs, multiple modules can be connected in parallel with droop-mode current sharing, which is also configurable via PMBus. Additional features include remote on/off functionality, a power-good signal, and an auxiliary output ranging from 9.5 to 14 V at 200 mA.

The output voltage can be set between 38.4 V and 57.6 V, with peak efficiency reaching around 92% at 230 Vac input. When idle, power consumption is as low as 2 W with output disabled. The compact design measures 157.2 × 89.9 × 15.2 mm and weighs 540 g, making it suitable for space-constrained installations.

The PFE1500FB series meets major international safety and regulatory standards, including IEC, UL, CSA, and EN62368-1, and carries CE and UKCA certifications. It complies with EMC requirements under EN55032 Class A (with external filtering) and IEC 61000-4 immunity standards. Electrical isolation ratings include 3000 Vac between input and output, 2500 Vac input-to-ground, and 1500 Vdc output-to-ground.

These power modules are intended for use in test and measurement equipment, semiconductor manufacturing systems, LED displays, laser equipment, and RF power amplifiers. The product line is backed by a three-year warranty.
