TDK Corporation has unveiled the MAF0603GWY series, an ultra-compact line of noise-suppression filters designed for audio circuits in small consumer electronics like smartphones and wearable devices. With dimensions of only 0.6 × 0.3 × 0.3 mm, these components help reduce electromagnetic interference while maintaining clear audio quality, and are planned for mass production starting April 2026.
In modern compact wireless gadgets, electromagnetic noise along audio signal paths can disrupt antenna performance and lower receiver sensitivity. While traditional chip beads can suppress this noise, they may also degrade audio quality. The new MAF0603GWY series overcomes this issue by using a specially developed low-distortion ferrite material that reduces changes to audio signal characteristics.
This advanced material allows the filters to preserve sound fidelity while still providing strong noise suppression. They deliver high attenuation above 5 GHz, with impedance reaching up to 3220 Ω at 5 GHz. At the same time, their reduced electrical resistance helps minimize signal loss compared to conventional solutions, enabling a broader audio dynamic range.
These filters are designed for managing high-frequency noise in devices using wireless standards such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi (2.4, 5, and 6 GHz), 5G Sub-6 GHz, and future 6G systems. Their combination of tiny size, effective noise control, and minimal impact on audio performance makes them well-suited for increasingly compact and high-performance portable electronics.
TDK continues to expand its portfolio of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) components, focusing on solutions that balance noise suppression with signal integrity in advanced consumer devices.
