Tigo Energy, a global provider of smart solar and energy software solutions, has secured certification for its EI Residential solar-plus-storage system from multiple Romanian distribution system operators. After completing grid compliance and approval processes with Distribuție Energie Electrică Romania (DEER), Distribuție Oltenia, and Rețele Electrice, both single-phase and three-phase versions of the solution are now officially approved for deployment across Romania, strengthening Tigo’s footprint in the European market.

As Romania prepares for continued solar expansion in 2026, the EI Residential system adds a new option for installers delivering advanced residential solar and storage solutions. In line with the country’s National Energy and Climate Plan, Romania installed around 2.2 GW of new solar capacity in 2025, with total installed capacity expected to surpass 10 GW by 2030.

Commenting on the milestone, Mirko Bindi, Senior Vice President of Sales EMEA and Managing Director Europe at Tigo Energy, noted that Romania’s solar sector is evolving toward greater emphasis on residential storage and grid compatibility. He added that close collaboration with distribution operators helps ensure grid stability while supporting the ongoing growth of rooftop solar through an integrated energy ecosystem.

The Tigo EI Residential solution combines TS4 Flex module-level power electronics, single-phase and three-phase hybrid inverters, modular DC-coupled battery storage, and the Tigo EI Link, which serves as the central communications and connection hub for the grid, solar array, inverters, and home loads, including full backup functionality. With commissioning typically completed in under 10 minutes, installers can quickly bring systems online, while Tigo Energy Intelligence software enables module-level monitoring and simplified fleet management. Customers also benefit from long-term warranties and access to multilingual technical support. The Romanian launch follows earlier rollouts of the EI Residential platform in markets such as Italy, Germany, and the Czech Republic.

Romanian installers and system designers can access technical documentation, application notes, and training through the Tigo Academy to deepen their understanding of the EI Residential ecosystem. First-time installers are also encouraged to participate in Tigo’s Green Glove program, which offers system design reviews, on-site technical support during installation, and a direct feedback channel with Tigo experts.
