Rohde & Schwarz, a global leader in AI-driven millimeter-wave screening solutions, announced it has secured a multi-million-dollar contract from the Transportation Security Administration to provide its QPS201 advanced imaging technology scanners for passenger screening at select airports in cities hosting the 2026 Soccer World Cup.
Frank Dunn, CEO of Rohde & Schwarz USA, said the company is excited to support TSA in upgrading airport checkpoints with the QPS201’s high-throughput, passenger-friendly screening system. He added that TSA’s ongoing investment in the technology will also help expand Rohde & Schwarz’s U.S. footprint, driving job growth at its Maryland and Texas facilities.
“We are proud TSA is investing in modernizing security checkpoints at the Soccer World Cup 2026 host city airports with our high-performance QPS201 technology platform,” said Andreas Haegele, Vice President of Microwave Imaging. “Rohde & Schwarz is deeply committed to our partnership with TSA. We will continue to develop and deliver innovative and effective on-person screening solutions to make airport security more efficient and convenient in the upcoming mega decade of travel including the Soccer World Cup, America’s 250th Anniversary and the Olympic Games.”
The QPS201 achieved TSA qualification in 2022, approving it for use in US passenger security screening checkpoints and has achieved certification to TSA and European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) highest standards. There are more than 100 R&S QPS201 scanners deployed in US airports already and more than 2,000 systems deployed in airports world-wide. The QPS201 uses safe millimeter wave radio frequency technology to rapidly and accurately screen passengers for concealed threats. The system requires only milliseconds per scan and its open design and hands-down scan pose makes security screening easy and accessible for travellers.
