Vishay Intertechnology has launched the first four components in its new IHDV series of high-voltage power inductors, aimed at advanced automotive, energy, and industrial systems that demand strong isolation and dependable high-temperature performance.
The lineup includes the automotive-qualified IHDV-0808AC-3A and IHDV-1008BB-3A, along with the commercial-grade IHDV-0808AC-30 and IHDV-1008BB-30. They come in compact 0808 (20 × 14 × 14 mm) and 1008 (25 × 20 × 23 mm) packages and are rated for continuous operation up to +180 °C.
These inductors are built for applications requiring isolation voltages as high as 1.5 kV, far above the ~350 V typical of similar-sized conventional parts. This is enabled by a PET-based plastic coilform insulator, making them suitable for high-voltage conversion and filtering tasks.
A powdered iron alloy core gives the devices soft-saturation behavior, helping maintain stable inductance as current rises. This also improves ripple control and allows the parts to handle inrush currents up to five times their rated value without sudden performance loss.
For EMI and high-frequency noise suppression, the IHDV series delivers high impedance across a wide spectrum. The 0808 versions exceed 1 kΩ at up to 80 MHz, while the 1008 variants reach 2.8 kΩ at 25 MHz—about three times higher performance than comparable inductors, and across a broader frequency range.
The smaller 0808 components save significant board space, occupying about one-third of the 1008 package volume, making them ideal for compact designs. Meanwhile, the 1008 versions use through-hole terminations for stronger mechanical durability in demanding environments.
All variants are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green-certified. Automotive versions meet AEC-Q200 standards. Samples and production units are available now, with lead times of around 12 weeks.
