Vishay Intertechnology has unveiled the VS-HOT200C080, a new 200A integrated power module developed for 48V traction inverter applications in light electric vehicles (LEVs) and mild-hybrid electric vehicles (MHEVs). The solution is designed to enhance power conversion efficiency, improve reliability, and reduce the overall footprint of automotive powertrain systems.

Built around 80V MOSFETs in a half-bridge configuration, the module is suited for applications such as belt-starter generators, regenerative energy recovery systems, and compact electric drive platforms. By integrating multiple functions into a single package, Vishay says the device can cut PCB space requirements by up to 15% compared to traditional designs using discrete components.

One of the module’s standout features is its ultra-low 0.45 mΩ MOSFET on-resistance, which helps minimize conduction losses and improve efficiency. According to the company, this can lower power losses by as much as 32% when compared with alternative solutions, while also reducing heat generation.

The VS-HOT200C080 combines several critical components within the same package, including a current-sensing shunt resistor, switching optimization capacitors, and an NTC thermistor for temperature monitoring. This integrated approach simplifies system design, reduces component count, and enables more compact inverter architectures.

Packaged in a compact 30 mm × 22.8 mm insulated FlatPAK HC0 housing, the module features an electrically isolated direct-bonded copper (DBC) substrate for enhanced thermal and electrical performance. Its transfer-mold construction is engineered for durability and supports operation in temperatures ranging from -55°C to +175°C.

Designed to meet demanding automotive requirements, the module complies with AQG-324 reliability standards and is built to withstand repeated power cycling. Its package design also separates signal and power connections, allowing greater flexibility in PCB layout and supporting space-saving stacked-board configurations.

The VS-HOT200C080 is available now in sample and production quantities, further expanding Vishay’s range of integrated power solutions for the rapidly growing 48V vehicle electrification market.
