VPT, has introduced the VSCPL1210SG, marking the first point-of-load (POL) DC–DC converter in its VSC Series of space-grade commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) power products. Capable of delivering up to 10 A of output current, the device achieves peak efficiencies of up to 95%. With this addition, the VSC Series now offers a complete power-conversion ecosystem, including isolated DC–DC converters, point-of-load solutions, and EMI filtering, expanding VPT’s portfolio for NewSpace applications.
The VSC Series targets small satellite missions in low Earth orbit and NASA Class D projects, balancing cost-effectiveness with validated and predictable performance. The devices undergo radiation testing to 42 MeV·cm²/mg without exhibiting destructive single-event effects (SEGR, SEB, or SEL), and total ionizing dose performance is tested up to 40 krad(Si) with a guaranteed 30 krad(Si), in line with VPT’s internal radiation hardness standards.
The VSCPL1210SG operates from a 4.5 V to 13.2 V input range and delivers an adjustable output between 0.8 V and 5.0 V. It maintains full performance across –55 °C to +105 °C without requiring derating. Its proprietary package allows dual-sided heatsinking, meets low-outgassing requirements, and features surface-mount construction compatible with standard reflow soldering for easy integration onto PCBs.
VPT plans to expand the VSC point-of-load family later this year with two additional models: the VSCPL0510SG, rated for 10 A, and the VSCPL1220SG, supporting up to 20 A output.
The VSC Series complements VPT’s hermetic hybrid SVL Series of radiation-hardened power products, which meet DLA SMD specifications. The VSCPL1210SG is manufactured in an ISO 9001, J-STD-001, and IPC-A-610 certified facility and is available for immediate order.
