The RECOM RMOD4000 series offers compact, plug-and-play DC/DC converters designed as a cost-effective way to generate isolated 14V, 28V, or 56V DC network rails from high-voltage traction batteries ranging from 180 to 950VDC. Depending on the variant and input voltage, the units can deliver up to 4kW, achieving conversion efficiencies of up to 95%. With options for baseplate or liquid cooling, these converters operate efficiently, stay cool, and provide high reliability and long service life.
The outputs are fully regulated and feature protection against over-current, over-voltage, over-temperature, and short circuits. Inputs include under- and over-voltage lockout and active inrush current suppression. An isolated CAN J1939 interface allows monitoring, control, and output voltage adjustment. Additional features include hardware on/off control (ignition), an HV interlock function, and an integrated OR-ing capability for paralleling units to increase power or provide redundancy with active current sharing. These converters operate reliably in temperatures from -40°C to +85°C without derating.
Full reinforced isolation is provided to IEC62477-1, vehicle safety standards ISO6469-3, and ISO 7637 are met, and the EMC standard ECER10 Rev 4 is certified (E-mark).
The RMOD4000 series is presented in a water- and dust-proof cast aluminium enclosure to IP67 standard and can be baseplate or water-cooled with integrated coolant ports. Body dimensions are 316 x 254 x 83mm, and sealed, plug-in connectors are provided for input and outputs.
Applications for the product are as an on-board DC/DC converter for battery powered on- and off-highway vehicles, such as forklifts, golf carts, AGVs, loaders, tractors, ships, and electric boats, in the areas of marine, material handling, construction, airports, E-mobility as well as for battery powered boats and marine systems.
