ESA awards R&S for contributions to 30 years European Satellite Navigation

The European Space Agency (ESA) marked 30 years of European satellite navigation with a grand celebration at its research and technology center, honoring key contributors who have shaped the journey of systems like Galileo and EGNOS which have positioned Europe as a global leader in satellite navigation. Among the honorees was Rohde & Schwarz, recognized for the excellence, commitment and long-standing partnership leading to the success of European satellite navigation programmes over the past three decades.

The event gathered key players from both institutional and industrial sectors, including ESA Member State representatives and prominent figures in satellite navigation. It highlighted major milestones in Europe’s satellite navigation journey while also focusing on future advancements. A key moment of the evening was the award ceremony, led by ESA’s Director of Navigation, Javier Benedicto, who, along with former directors, honored organizations and partners that have played a crucial role in this ongoing success.

Among the honorees was Rohde & Schwarz, recognized for their significant contributions to European satellite navigation. Their work has been essential to the progress and success of systems like Galileo and EGNOS, which have transformed navigation, positioning, and timing services across Europe and internationally.
