Mouser Electronics, the authorized global distributor with the newest electronic components and industrial automation products, is now shipping the new ZP-L laser displacement sensors from Omron Industrial Automation. The ZP-L Series is a laser displacement sensor positioned between photoelectric sensors and high-end measurement systems for automotive and digital quality control, calibration, surface inspection, and dimensional analysis applications.

The ZP-L laser displacement sensors, available from Mouser, provide improved high-resolution displacement and position feedback for applications where traditional precision metrology savings are essential. The ZP-L supports the detection and measurement of very small objects, down to approximately one mm and below, providing greater stability and accuracy than photoelectric sensors. A compact sensor head, wide-angle measurement capability, and advanced sensing algorithms enable reliable detection across a range of materials and surfaces for flatness verification, positioning, and height detection, with the ability to detect harsh angles up to 85° for maximum flexibility in machine design. For example, when sensors cannot be installed directly above the target workpiece, ZP-L can be positioned diagonally and still deliver reliable measurements.

The ZP-L user interface is easy to understand without manuals, and the support software allows for quick testing without loggers. The ZP-L sensors provide 0.5μm static resolution and 0.025% full-scale linearity, intuitive OLED amplifiers, analog and network outputs, and Wave Inspire support software to help reduce commissioning time, minimize downtime, and simplify multi-sensor integration. By delivering greater stability and resolution than photo eyes, and without the integration burden of metrology-grade systems, ZP-L can help OEMs and end users reduce false rejects, limit redesign iterations, and maintain consistent process performance.
