TAIYO YUDEN has expanded its automotive passive component lineup with the HVX (-K) and HTX (-K) series of conductive polymer hybrid aluminum electrolytic capacitors. Designed for 48V automotive power systems, these capacitors support power smoothing and noise suppression in applications such as electronic power steering, ADAS, and other vehicle safety and control systems.

Qualified to the AEC-Q200 automotive reliability standard, the new series addresses the increasing demand for higher-voltage, high-ripple-current capacitors as the automotive industry transitions from 12V to 48V electrical architectures. The capacitors are built to deliver dependable performance at operating temperatures of up to 135°C while supporting voltages as high as 80V.

Compared with earlier HVX and HTX models, the latest capacitors provide enhanced capacitance performance. The range includes 46 variants across seven case sizes, with the largest 80V-rated RAHTX181M1RGP5005K offering a ripple current rating of 3,900 mArms at 135°C.

The hybrid design combines conductive polymer technology with conventional electrolyte, delivering low equivalent series resistance (ESR), high ripple-current capability, self-healing characteristics, and improved long-term reliability for demanding automotive environments.

These capacitors are ideal for power supply filtering in electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles, and advanced driver assistance systems, where compact size, high voltage capability, and stable power delivery are essential. Mass production began in June 2026 at ELNA’s Shirakawa and Aomori facilities in Japan, with engineering samples already available. TAIYO YUDEN also plans to further expand its hybrid capacitor portfolio to meet future automotive power electronics requirements.
