GE Appliances is partnering with Texas Instruments (TI) to integrate U.S.-made semiconductor solutions into its upcoming connected home appliances, including next-generation laundry products. The components will be used at GE Appliances’ new Louisville, Kentucky, laundry manufacturing facility, which is expected to begin production in 2027.
Through the agreement, TI will supply around one-third of the semiconductor components needed for appliances produced at the facility. The collaboration significantly increases GE Appliances’ investment in TI and supports the company’s goal of expanding domestic sourcing and strengthening its U.S. manufacturing ecosystem.
TI will provide semiconductors manufactured at its facilities in Utah and Texas, including microcontrollers, wireless connectivity chips, and analog integrated circuits. These technologies will help GE Appliances develop smarter, more efficient, and more connected laundry systems with improved performance and reliability.
The partnership will enable advanced wireless features through TI connectivity solutions that combine Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy, and enhanced security capabilities for seamless communication between appliances and smart home platforms. TI’s analog technologies will also support improved power management, system protection, diagnostics, and energy efficiency.
Motor control is another major focus area, with TI motor drive solutions helping washing machines achieve quieter operation, better performance, and improved efficiency. TI’s gallium nitride (GaN) motor drivers further enhance designs by reducing energy losses, removing the need for bulky heat sinks, and increasing power density.
GE Appliances is also exploring TI’s intelligent microcontroller platforms for future products. These solutions combine processing power, analog integration, security features, and AI capabilities to enable functions such as predictive maintenance, adaptive appliance operation, and smarter energy management while maintaining low power consumption.
The collaboration highlights both companies’ commitment to expanding U.S. semiconductor manufacturing and developing more intelligent, efficient, and connected household appliances.
